Solstice

If I remember to close my eyes

even if it's only for a few moments

I can slip through the fabric of my time

And the tangle of my thoughts

To reach out towards the sun.

And tonight I must be careful,

quiet and sly

if I am to break through this cloudy sky-

for my brother has killed my brother

and his shadow has grown larger

over my mind.

But I know there is power beyond his mass.

It’s what takes the dew off the grass

power in knowing that all storms pass.

In time the axis turns

The nights grow shorter than days.

Any cloud that hangs overhead

will be pierced by the Sun's rays.

All fear and darkness and hate

will vanish and dissipate.
