Gratitude
Solitude on the west coast
More comforting than most
places. About 50 paces
from cypress fences
my senses awaken and I’m taken
taken back in time through a line eternal
Struggle and struggle, wallow and
wallow but just know that tomorrow
you’ll feel free.
See it’s easy it’s easy it’s easy
You craft your own heaven
you design your own hell
You’ve got be grateful
Patient as well
You can sew your eyes open
You can swallow the pill
Can spend your life chasing
Any kind of thrill
But it’s all around you
wherever you roam
Live in the moment
Always at home
So dig in, dig in , dig in
Star speckled in the evening air
Billions of reasons just shining there
always above you
as you keep asking
where, where , where?
So the story goes
blind poet finally sees
what everybody knows
Careful what you take
for granted
Not every fruit
can be transplanted
So water the roots
show what light you can
don’t you ever forget
it’s not about you, man
If you’re wondering where to find me
I’ll be
out in the garden baby
up in the petals of your hair
in the foundation of your story
in the magic of your eyes.
If the tide decides to rise
I’ll grab my surfboard
and ride ride ride
