Alternative to Therapy Part 4
What keeps you up at night
what gets you out of bed
what makes your smile crack open
what makes you break down, call a friend?
I need a hand to understand you
I need a hand to turn me ‘round
I need a place to stop drifting
I need to feel my feet on the ground
The whole of my life
has been looking for a better one
sometimes I look around
and I see none
All this chasing only has me
changing my mind on what’s
worth my time
I better stop trying to rhyme
with something that just won’t
Well maybe there’s an antidote.
The cabinets and the floorboards
the spindle and the loom
long days outside
and the way you decorate your room
the ways your eyes awaken
to each morning’s new light
it’s what you do with your breakfast
not what keeps you up at night
So finish your oatmeal
and go out to the fields
the berries are ripe for picking
and the children need their meals
