Headbands and Handstands
Lavender and sage under a new moon
“I need you to do this with mad intention”
she says in her rock n’ roll tshirt
meanwhile my knees hurt
from all these leaps of faith
but she burned her blood
and her wishes came true
I asked life for love
and I was granted you
Volleyball and beer in the redwood grove
great big bonfire underneath a meteor shower
We gazed at the lion the crab the cancer
Asked questions with no answer
Do you think the planets talk to another?
Do you think what we do matters at all
In the great big swirl things?
You took me to the ocean
and we sat down on some rocks
Now I miss our long drive talks
Remember when we went
and looked over the cliff?
Maybe the big one will come
on a day
just like this
Before that happens
give me one more kiss
Just between you, me
And the abyss
I think this is total bliss
I’ll make some headbands
while you do handstands
and you laugh
at how I look upside down
That’s how this whole place looked
before you came around
But you say you’ve got to go back East
I guess that’s the nature of the beast
Takes right off your feet
Right when your soles meet
You can’t stop someone
from doing what they must
this world requires a lot of trust
No it’s never going to be enough
Just try not to take it too rough
